Teaching Religion To Children Is Brainwashing. Religion is the opiate of the masses. It is the purposeful suspension of critical thinking. It has plagued our society since the inception of man. Teaching children old obscure tales is irresponsible. We should be teaching them critical thinking skills and making society more progressive. There are no more items in your cart. Sign in. He has released a new book, Families and Faith: How Religion is Passed Down across Generations that examines the ways parents attempt to instill religious faith in their children in light of today. Additionally, our children, if restricted to an education that supports their family’s religion, will have no frame of reference to understand other religions, other cultures, and other beliefs.

Only God can save and sanctify. Still, God uses men and means. Certainly we as parents must seek to bring our children to Jesus Christ for salvation. But salvation is not the end of the journey. It is only the beginning. The destination toward which we are headed with our children is nothing less than maturity in Christ.   Religious books, both for school and for bedtime, have the same “love, luck and lollipops” view of our faith. It gives one the impression that religion is something to turn to for sentimental reasons, or when one needs a quick “God loves me and everyone goes to Heaven” fix.
